Today, we turn the spotlight on Twomey Cellars, and their beautiful winery and tasting room near Calistoga.

Nestled in the northern region of Napa Valley, between Calistoga’s redwoods and St. Helena’s quaint Main Street, Twomey Cellars offers guests a taste of tradition. The winery began when the family behind Silver Oak wanted to apply their knowledge and experience to new varietals. The result is Twomey’s silky Merlot, balanced Pinot Noir, and crisp Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are made from grapes grown not only in Napa Valley, but from carefully selected vineyards in Sonoma to the east, Anderson Valley to the north, and the Santa Maria Valley to the south. These appellations are chosen by the Twomey winemaking team for their climate, soil, and elevation, in order to showcase the best each varietal and region has to offer.

For an intimate tasting experience and sweeping vineyard views, treat your group to a flight of Twomey’s wines in their stunning Napa Valley tasting room. You’ll begin with the current vintage of their floral Sauvignon Blanc, followed by a variety of fruit-driven Pinot Noirs, and finally, one of the only single-vineyard Merlots made in California!

In Twomey’s Calistoga location, tours are also available by request. An expert will guide you through the cellar where you can learn more about Twomey’s approach to winemaking, which combines the best of Old World and New World techniques. “We believe in taking a good thing and making it better, whether by using a new technology or reviving a time-honored tradition,” says David R. Duncan, who, with his brother, manages Twomey Cellars. Twomey’s winemaker Erin Miller crafts both Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blanc wines using the skills she honed in France, Oregon, and California. She says, “For me, wine is an attempt to capture a time and place in the bottle. It is the prism we look through to the past while enjoying the present.”
