Dario Sattui, whose family was involved with winemaking in the Napa Valley before Prohibition, has turned his lifelong passion for Italian culture into a grand wine country experience at his Castello di Amorosa. He spent years traveling around Europe and fixating on medieval castles. In 1994, Dario began the construction of his own castle right here in the Napa Valley. Eventually, The Castello grew to over 8,000 tons of hand carved stone covering 121,000 square feet including 107 rooms, a drawbridge, a church and a barrel room as massive as it is impressive.
Even Dario himself would say, though, that The Castello is merely a backdrop to showcase some of the best wines in the Napa Valley. The wines they produce range from light and easy sippers, to the ethereal single-vineyard Napa Cabernets the region is known the world over for. And all of the wines are only available directly through the winery itself. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Primitivo, Sangiovese are just a few of the intensely flavored wines available at The Castello. Stand up tastings, guided tours, blending seminars, walking vineyard tours and private tastings are just some of the many options available. The Royal Food and Wine Pairing Experience is an enhanced and interactive educational program. The Up Valley Tour we offer is an all day, immersive glimpse into the northern half of the Napa Valley.
